e Car Rental Dublin - Ireland After Indepence

When the civil war ended in 1922 the Irish Free State was preoccupied with trying to set up Government institutions and with the repair of the damage done during the Civil War. It was not until the advent of Eamon De Valera (who had partaken in the 1916 risint) Finna Fail Political Party that any progress was made.

During World War II, the rebuilding of Ireland had to stop as building materials could not get gotten. Ireland is a neutral country and as such did not actively partake in the War, even though many Irish citizens joined the British Army hoping that their efforts might be rewarded with the return of the 6 counties to Irish Rule. This however did not happen.

While Dublin was a neutral country, it did get bombed on occasion by lost German pilots and a number of planes crash landed in Ireland.

When the War ended in 1945 Ireland restarted it's programme of reconstruction, but it wasn't until Taoiseach LeMass that Ireland really began to prosper. Under De Valera Ireland had followed a self sufficiency ideal. In hindsight this was disastrous for Ireland who stagnated while other European countries prospered.

Ireland is now the most open country in the World in economic terms and a first world country.
