| During the 18th Century economic affluence was followed
by the development of Georgian Dublin. This development spread beyond Dublin Castle's
walls, and the result is the impressive architecture in and around Dublin City
Center which you can still see today.
It was during this time that the mainly
Protestant Parliament passed penal laws which included harsh measures against
Roman Catholics in Ireland. These laws placed restrictions on ownership of property
by Roman Catholics and prevented them from getting an education
