| Dublin City is the capital city of Ireland, and
is situated on the Eastern Coast of Ireland shared with the Irish Sea. The town
is build around Dublin Bay which is Ireland's busiest port, and the closest port
to Great Britain. Much of the land used for the port is reclaimed land. The Dock
area is now going through a massive state of regeneration with stylish apartment
blocks being built. The area is also home to the financial center of Ireland (IFSC).
This is where the Dock lands begin.
Dublin is situated on either side of
the River Liffey as it nears it's estuary. When in Dublin you will hear constant
references to North Siders and South Siders. This refers to which side of the
Liffey you live on. Until recently Dublin City could have been regarded as a small
city, but now with the massive amounts of development taking place, some of the
smaller towns on the outskirts of Dublin are being joined to Dublin by such developments.
